Agronomy and Processing Manager Fruit Category

The challenge

The Agronomy and Processing Manager builds in depth agronomy and processing expertise within the fruit category, allowing him/her to detect opportunities and risks for own sourcing and processing in the fruit category.


He/she provides support and coordinates the preferred supplier network and Ardo’s own processing units, regarding all matters related to agronomy and processing. Specifically, the Agronomy and Processing Manager integrates Ardo’s ambitions and sets standards regarding quality, cost, Mimosa, Shine and Pure strategy. He/she thereby ensures that quality of own and external produce and optimum overall buying conditions are balanced at all times. He/she contributes to negotiations with suppliers regarding these topics and sets up relevant checks to evaluate growers/suppliers.


The Agronomy and Processing Manager plays a role in the external purchasing of products in the fruit category. He/she works closely together with the Category Director and is responsible for purchasing activities for specific products within the fruit category, matching them to the needs identified throughout the group wide S&OP process and the overall category management strategy. He/she is expected to maintain an overview of all external suppliers within this category, building and maintaining long term relationships.


The Agronomy and Processing Manager reports to the Group Category Director Fruit and contributes to the long & short term profit within the fruit category. The Agronomy and Processing Manager works across national borders and functional departments for this specific product category and contributes towards its overall
development and growth. He/she must recognize opportunities and risks across the group, ensuring and leveraging the full benefit of integrated worldwide operations within the fruit product category.

Your talent

  • Degree in agronomy or similar technical education
  • Technical insight of the fresh and frozen fruit market
  • Previous experience or openness to develop knowhow in sourcing and processing of fruit
  • Understanding of overall commercial and business processes
  • Problem solver
  • Capable of working with a high degree of autonomy but also in a supporting role
  • English as a working language, Spanish is a major plus, any other languages are an advantage
  • Openness to extensive travel
